Our winter wonderland is producing hoar frost after the recent cold, clear nights. In the morning sunlight it looks like diamonds in the meadow. https://www.britannica.com/science/hoarfrost

Another successful XC Trail Work Day with 21 people working hard on Sunshine Bowl and Jacks Trail. Post event chili wasn’t too bad either. Be on the lookout for a new scheduled work party in a couple of weeks. Cheers!

Thanks to all the enthusiastic volunteers that rallied this past weekend to help clear cross country and snowshoe trails for winter grooming. These efforts help maintain some of the best groomed trails in the country. Specifically we worked on Hidden Meadow, Aspen Forest, Lodgepole Loop, and the Headwaters Bridge. While previewing the system with founder and pioneer, Paul Petersen, we learned that one of the unique characteristics of Bear Valley is that most trails do not follow existing roads, and instead follow natural terrain, giving a special spice to each trail. No wonder this area is revered and respected among seasoned cross country skiers. Next Trail Work Day on October 11th, 2020.

Fall is in the air and our snowcat track work is complete. The missing ingredient is snow, but no rush as these late summer conditions are great for hiking, biking, fishing, climbing and disc golf to name a few. What’s your favorite fall time activity?
