PG&E's statement in response to the CalFire Report includes the following passage: "Based on our preliminary review, we accept the report’s finding that a tree made contact with a power line, but we do not believe it is clear what caused the tree to fail or that vegetation management practices fell short."

Many fire victims are having trouble rebuilding their homes because their lender is refusing to release its claim to the money paid by their insurance carrier for damage to their home. So long as its security interest is protected the lender is required to release its claim to the insurance proceeds so the home can be rebuilt. If your lender is refusing to release the funds, it is acting in bad faith. If this is happening to you, you should contact your attorney and ask him or her to immediately address the situation.
If you lost your home in the Butte Fire and had no insurance, it is not too late for you to apply to PG&E for emergency funds. If you were a homeowner, you can recover up to $50,000. If you were a renter you can receive up to $10,000. You can download the form at: www.dropbox.com/s/audve72bf9ddctb/Urgent%20Needs%20Form.pdf

Good advice for hiring an attorney. Make sure your attorney has trial experience and the ability to actually try your case. Most cases settle, but you get a better result when the defendant's insurance company knows your attorney can try the case.
