The unveiling will be live streamed for the public at 5pm and will be honored with the presence of Santa Monica Cultural Affairs Manager, Shannon Daut, Rose River Memorial’s creator, Marcos Lutyens, Building Bridges Art Exchange’s Director, Marisa Caichiolo, and the rest of the participant partners Galleries.... In September of last year, Marisa Caichiolo @mcla.curatorial @buildingbridges_ax ‘s founder submitted a grant proposal to the City of Ojai Arts Commission to support a local Earth Day initiative with a long-term vision for Ojai to be the site of an international land art biennial. This initiative, also supported by @flourishojai and the @ojairetreat , is an invitation for all residents in the Ojai Valley to celebrate our majestic environment through natural creations that inspire us to imagine our future together. Caichiolo says, Everyone is an artist capable of inspiring their communities to create their future in a sustainable way. Let’s remember together what it means to love the Earth as our Mother. Participating Ojai artists will have the opportunity to have photos and videos of their work exhibited on the BBAX and Flourish tOjai websites and social media pages, with some chosen to install their all-natural art works on site at the Ojai Retreat Cultural Center in Meiners Oaks. Throughout March and April, all community members are invited to submit photos and videos of their land art to the Flourish Ojai website and Facebook and Instagram pages. Since 1970, people around the world have been promoting and supporting sustainable actions and inspiring constructive approaches to the environmental crisis through Earth Day. Now, fifty- one years later and more than ever, we must collectively act. In order to survive, we must mobilize our community to work together in bringing back balance between humanity and the natural order of things.
