Summer is almost over, yet you can't get enough of the great outdoors. National Eat Outdoors Day is very easy to celebrate. Find a picnic table, a park bench, or an outdoor restaurant. You can also spread a blanket out on the lawn. You will be glad you did! BTW, did You Know? Sidewalk cafes first appeared in the early 1900's in Manhattan in New York City.

Today is Banana Lover’s Day, so why not start the day off with the BEST banana pancakes! Ingredients: 1 cup (125 grams) all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon sugar... 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg Pinch fine sea salt 1 cup (235 ml) buttermilk, see the notes section for alternatives 1 large egg 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted 1 ripe banana, mashed with a fork Warm maple syrup, sliced bananas, and chopped nuts for serving Directions: 1. In a large bowl, use a fork or whisk to combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and the salt. Mix well. 2. In another medium bowl, use a fork or whisk to combine the buttermilk, egg, melted butter and the mashed banana. Mix well. (If you a doing this ahead of time, cover flour mixture and buttermilk mixture then keep in the refrigerator until ready to make the pancakes. For the fluffiest pancakes, keep the two mixtures separate until you are ready to make the pancakes). 3. Heat a large skillet or griddle to medium heat. You know when the pan is ready if when you splatter a little water onto the pan surface, the water dances around the pan and eventually evaporates. 4. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture, pour in the buttermilk mixture and use a fork to stir the two mixtures until combined. It is okay if the batter has small lumps, in fact, you want that it is important not to over mix the batter. 5. Lightly spray hot skillet or griddle with non-stick cooking spray or lightly brush with melted butter. Then, use a 1/4-cup measuring cup to spoon batter onto the skillet or griddle. 6. When you notice the edges of the pancake look dry and little bubbles start to appear on the top surfaces of the pancake, turn over. This takes about 2 minutes. Once flipped, cook another 1 to 2 minutes or until lightly browned and cooked in the middle. 7. If serving right away, serve warm topped with sliced bananas, chopped nuts, and warm maple syrup. If you need to keep leftover pancakes warm, place into a 200-degree F oven up to 30 minutes.
LOL! Sorry, but you know you got excited for just a minute!
Is your hygiene in the correct order? Here’s what we suggest: 1. Floss or use a Waterpik to completely clean between teeth. If you use a tongue cleaner, use it now. 2. Brush your teeth with a low-abrasive, fluoride toothpaste. 3. Rinse for 30 seconds to 1 minute with a fluoride containing mouthwash.
When asked what they would most want on a deserted island, almost half of all people choose toilet paper! Maybe that gives us a clue as to why there is a National Toilet Paper Day. It is one of those things we sometimes take for granted, until we can't find any like .ummm in April! Not something we would normally celebrate but since it was so popular this year, we thought why not!
We’d love to see a picture of your pup, and if they are a rescue be sure to tell us how you found each other! Oh, and tell your cat to chill out, their day will come!
Something to look forward to!
Is your mouth watering yet? Happy National Banana Split Day. Yes, it’s old school, but it’s sooooo delicious. We highly recommend that you find a way to have one of these today (or share one). How to Make a Banana Split: Cut the banana lengthwise and place it in the dish. Then add scoops of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream between the slices of banana. Each scoop gets a topping; add crushed pineapple to the strawberry, drizzle chocolate syrup over the vanilla, and add strawberry topping to the chocolate. Next, sprinkle with crushed nuts. Finally, garnish with whipped cream and maraschino cherries.
Students, here is another little study tip to help you make the most of this new school year: Studying hard for 30-50 minutes at a time with 10-minute breaks in between is believed to be the most effective way of studying. We suggest you set an alarm on your phone to remember to take your important breaks!
Let’s all make this a great week!
Saturday is National Tooth Fairy Day! Or, is it? Some argue it is to be celebrated in February. So, we choose to celebrate it twice each year! Wouldn’t it be great to find money under your pillow in the morning (even if you didn’t leave a tooth there the night before)!
