There’s nothing more rewarding for me than holding & loving on a sweet brand new angel baby while momma showers, rests, & nourishes. Postpartum is such a tough time for even the toughest mommas. No one tells you before you have kids- oh ya you may not be able to shower more often than once a week...oh ya your nipples can crack and bleed when you nurse in the beginning & that’s normal, oh ya you’re gonna feel like crap and be exhausted but may need to feed every hour and a hal...f around the clock...this is parenthood, motherhood- the most rewarding yet obstacle jumping, selfless, beautiful moments of our lives! Not every birth turns out how we expect. Sometimes things happen that we have not prepared for, & acceptance & surrender are key. People always ask me if a Doula is the same thing as a Midwife & I like this chart from @babyblissbirth that shows the basic differences (there are many huge differences!!). I also get asked a lot if I want to become a Midwife & I feel content in the place I am in, the support I provide, & the awareness that I am meant to provide the physical & emotional aspects of a labor & birth. I am in awe of what a huge amazing role a Midwife has, & love working in conjunction with them. Beautiful baby Iris Some people question/debate the use of binky’s me personally- in my experience I have found it to be a great relief for the sucking reflex that all newborns experience. Haha this is so true!! The hardest part for most mommas to be is the last month. I personally was absolutely effing miserable at the end of all 4 of my pregnancies. I felt so guilty that I was so miserable during what was the most beautiful amazing rewarding experiences of my life. I wanted my babies in my arms and was sick of being huge, bloated, on bed rest, barely could walk, my whole body hurts, I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t poop, I couldn’t stop peeing or ...puking.... NOW before you know it my babies are grown & I would give anything just to have one more day connected to them in that way. Appreciate every day, every second, every moment is a gift and something that we can never have back again.
