I was invited to contribute art to an online Gallery, based in Paris, called Singulart. This past pandemic year, I've been surprised by on-line sales. Something I thought was unlikely, or a rarity, at best, has proven to be a reasonable replacement for in person art shows, and studio visits. While those visits are clearly missed, the idea of increasing exposure both , in terms of numbers and geography is exciting. That increased exposure is what every artist desires and frets over. Ausencia - oil on panel - 36" x 48" This was a long process, with many changes of direction. It may change again before it leaves the studio. The addition of the chair adds to the narrative, but it also serves as an anchor of sorts. It anchors the painting in a more specific reality, which I am unaccustomed to doing.

This morning I received notification from Saatchi that Anamnesis sold. Anamnesis is the second of the four post Italian neo-classical paintings. A conversation I had with an artwalk visitor about the painting increased my connection to it. A young woman stood in front of it for quite a while. I asked her if she had any questions and a conversation ensued. She told me that the painting suggested to her, an untethering; freedom following millennia of constraint. I loved that de...scription. Anamnesis is the remembering of things from a supposed previous existence (often used with reference to Platonic philosophy), but that is rather vague, beyond that I still didn't know what the painting meant to me. that is something that often comes after the fact. I now often use her description when talking about the painting, although I usually include her in the story. See more

Private collection - Northfield, Minnesota

A great and extremely talented friend from early in my career, Robert Rodriguez, has asked me, along with two other artist friends to be a part of a four artist virtual gallery. The three of them have been award winning illustrators and very successful artists that focus on western art. I'm a little bit the odd man out. But I'm honored to be a part of this group. The site encourages interaction with the artists. We will be answering inquiries about the history, the influence...s, the intentions, the difficulties of creating any specific piece.
