Bear River Renaissance Program

Hello All, With the impending stay at home order there have been a number of questions regarding school. The State has determined that if you are in school you... can remain in school under the State's Stay at Home Order. The Wheatland School District will continue to have Preschool & TK - 5th grade on our school sites for their schooling. We have two weeks until Winter Break and plan to continue to teach our students for these next two weeks just like they are currently being taught (i.e Preschool 8:30am to 11:30am Monday to Friday, TK - 5th grade is Distance Learning on Mondays and AM/PM Hybrid Tuesday - Friday, 6th - 8th grade will remain on Distance Learning). Winter break is from December 21, 2020 through January 3, 2021. We plan to return to school on January 4, 2021 with the understanding the state may continue to tighten down the restrictions. Congratulations to our AMAZING FFA and Career Tech Programs! Under the leadership of Mrs. Stinson, Mrs. O’Connor, and Mrs. Gouker our program has received ANOTHER Strong Work Force Grant in the amount of $539,604 to continue the expansion of our incredible programs! The hard work in the classroom by Mrs. Stinson, Mrs. O’Connor, Mr. O’Neal, Mr. Carr and Miss Bowes is paying off- and the students are reaping the rewards!! Our grant was scored the 4th highest in the entire region! (Not bad for a middle school competing primarily against all high schools!) Bear River continues to shine!!!

The Wheatland School District Board voted tonight to follow the Yuba-Sutter Public Health mandate which moves 6-8th grade students back to a distance learning m...odel effective 11/30 through 12/18. Distance learning is in place on 11/23 and 11/24 for all grade levels. TK 5th grade will remain on the Hybrid on-site AM/PM schedule. All TK-8th grade special education students will remain on the Hybrid on-site AM/PM schedule. Lunches and transportation will still be offered. We will revisit this decision at our December 17th Board Meeting. COVID -19 INFORMATION UPDATE November 16, 2020 Good Evening WSD Family! Today, Dr. Luu (Yuba Sutter Public Health Officer) published a letter stating that grade...s 7-12 needed to press pause and revert back to Distance Learning no later than November 23, 2020. To be clear this is currently not an order but may become one. YCOE can't close our schools and Public Health (Dr. Luu) only can with an order. No decision has been made at this time. We will be having an Emergency Board Meeting tomorrow to see what our next steps are regarding any potential of reverting back to Distance Learning. We received the letter only shortly before it was published to the public. It is a lot to absorb and we will have more information soon. Please stay tuned.
