The San Juan horse community is missing probably it's oldest and dearest friend today, Mr. Fred Love, a true cowboy. I'm torn with a feeling of loss, and one of the deepest gratitude for having known him. My memories of Freddie start as a brash 18 year old Hunter rider he tried to teach to rope. One who scoffed at hanging onto the saddle horn on a cutting horse, until he put me on his and dared me not to hang on. Yup, I got dirty that day. Always there with a smile, a big hu...g, and perhaps a joke. Always humor. That's how I'll remember Freddie Love. A whimsical smile and a kind word for everyone. He lived his long and colorful life surrounded by family and friends, and being a larger-than-life figure in the horse world we love so much. You will be remembered long and well, Freddie! Godspeed on this next adventure, dear friend. Go find Leslie. We've got it from here. See more

Hi Herd! Barn Update Here! When can lessons start back up? Well, I guess when Gavin says so. But I'm looking at the numbers for Orange County, and they're not encouraging right now. We appear to be in our "peak," reporting the most cases in the hospital and on life support to date. That makes me worry for you. It makes me worry for my staff. Well WHOOPS, I kinda dropped the ball on posting about tonight's Pony Club Unmounted Meeting AND Virtual Horsemanship class for Monthly Members! If you need the codes, check your email. Email me if you didn't get it. Last weeks topics were How to keep riding from home, and From the Horse's Mouth. We talked about great ways to continue to grow as an Equestrian, stay fit, and keep engaged. We also talked about how a horse's mouth and teeth work, a bit about how to "age" them, ...and had a fun Q & A with great questions! This meeting went MUCH more smoothly than the first. We're on a ROLL! Tonight at 5:30, we look forward to "Condition & Conditioning" presented by our Pony Club Advisor Nicole Parker (Mia & Poppy's Mom). This class is free to all Pony Club Members, training clients and current Monthly Members. Guests are welcome for $10 fee. Well, the first ever BRIDGES Virtual Horsemanship Class had some bugs. The main one of which was everyone had a rough time signing on. I'll work on that before Thursday. The second is those that made it, were staff and our close herd, which already knew everything I was going to talk about, so that was awkward... But, it was also really insightful. It was something I learned at the Horsemasters meetings: There is fun to be had just meeting up and chatting! We got to meet Mara...'s Gecko and everyone's dogs. We got to put faces to names, and see where our friends live. In this time of isolation, we got to be together. It's that way in the Horsemasters meetings, too. Originally I had a topic of the evening, but we end up just enjoying some food and drink, and each other's company. We talk about Oliver's neurocies, Dolly's hair cut, everyone's dogs and kids. We heckle the Karaoke guy, and yeah, talk a little horse stuff. Mainly, we all just hang out. And it's wonderful! I look forward to it every month. We will meet on Zoom this month! So, going forward, the Virtual Horsemanship meetings will be a little less structured, and more AAA meeting for lonely horse people. Hello, my name is Ruthanna, and I'm a horseaholic. Let's all support each other. And I'll make sure you learn something about horses, or the horse industry, and maybe just a little bit about geckos, too!
