Black Belt Status! It's been a long road with many years invested on the mats and I finally achieved my goal. My journey was unique. I trained under many professors and coaches. I was even promoted by a different black belt for each of my belts. Also received my blue belt twice lol. I wouldn't want it any other way. With perseverance and hard work, I now have well rounded knowledge, the skills to share my knowledge with the next breed of martial artists, and a toughness tha...t can only earned through years of scrapping with high level athletes. It all started with wrestling at 7 years old, then Judo around 10. After growing up and getting a "regular job" I had to put a hold on martial arts training for a while...but there was always something missing. Finally back in 2008 I started training MMA and completely fell in love. Even though my main focus was MMA, I always enjoyed bjj and sub grappling the most. I was even able to display the effectiveness of jiu jitsu in a real fight with 8 submission victories. After retiring from fighting it was natural for me to shift focus on Bjj and coaching full time. Finally after about 22 years on the mats and 11-12 years in gi and nogi I get to consider myself an "expert" Congrats to everyone else who got promoted yesterday and thanks to all my awesome training partners and @dethronefresno for always providing quality instructors.
