HOW TO HIT YOUR DRIVER FURTHER GUARANTEED Use impact labels to learn center contact. Hit 3 shots while gripping the driver at full length with label on. Notice... impact pattern. Put a new label on, choke down 1/2" and hit 3 more shots. Repeat while choking 1" down. Compare the 3 labels for consistency and center contact. The result will be quite obvious. A 1" off center hit forfeits up to 20% of distance. This is how you fit for clublength. Unfortunately most manufacturers are competing with each other for distance and build clubs that are too long so that if you happen to sniff center contact, it will go further on launch monitors. Most tour players drivers are shorter than what is sold on the market for amateurs. To quote Trump, "Who knew?" The star marked on the label pictured is ideal contact for high launch and low spin and therefore maximum distance. See more
