Greetings Pony Families, We hope you enjoyed your summer and that you're ready to come back to the fields soon! Last night we held our annual board meeting and wanted to share what was discussed with the 22 in attendance. Below are some of the topics we covered: Spring 2021 Season:... Brentwood Pony will play a 2021 Season and we have no plans to fold or shutdown. With that said, we are in the same boat as all the other youth sports leagues and are waiting for the State to allow games with groups of more than 14. We plan to not open registrations or accept any fees until the state has a return to play plan for youth sports. We understand the disappointment and financial impact last season's unavoidable situation caused to many of our valued members. Survey for Registration: A registration survey will be coming out soon to gauge interest and give us an idea of how large divisions will be so we can prepare logistics and volunteers. It usually takes us 4-5 months to prepare for a full spring season. So we need as much help and information as possible to be able to get the season started when the state allows us to hold games. Impact Soccer's' campaign to return: Our neighbors, Impact Soccer, have begun writing and expressing the needs for youth sports return to our state and local officials. Here is a note we are copying from them and sharing to help spread the information and push our state officials to allow youth sports to return: "Youth Sports leaders realize the importance activity plays in our kids lives and are working to get further clarity from State Officials on what the path forward is for a Return to Play. Most California businesses and industries have clear guidance on what steps need to happen for them to progress forward toward re-opening, but with youth sports there is no clear guidance or steps. Leaders from organizations representing 1.4 million youth players have come together and sent a letter to Governor Gavin Newsom asking that guidance be created and offering to work with State leaders as needed to create the plan. They have started a campaign titled #safereturntoplaycampaign that encourages everyone to write to their local officials to push for more guidance for our youth. The city of Brentwood's softball program will no longer be running and we hope to grow our softball program for the youth in our area. We miss all of you dearly and can not wait until we are able to be back on the field, safely, with you again.
