Nearly 3 months to the day and we finally got the new sign up.

Yesterday afternoon they finally fixed the phones and A/C in my office. It is nice to have everything back to normal around here. Thanks for everyone's patience.

So I wanted to quickly update people out there. Our phones have been down since Tuesday morning and they have been forwarded to our afterhour/emergency department. I am so sorry that occured. You can still call the office at 916-979-9799 and a warm body will pick up it won't be in my office however. They can take the info, payments, answer basic questions or pass even transfer you if there is a real urgency. Hopefully by tomorrow afternoon things will be back to normal. ... If you are interested in the cause I will detail it below... Tuesday morning we came in and took our phones off the afterhours/emergency department as we normally do at 900am. At about 930am we lost the ability to call to any outbound line or to have any inbound line call in. We could continue to call internally with State Farm (that is the reason we can get the transfers mentioned above) but that is it. It turns out that above our suite they completely ripped out the phone trees and wiring in anticipation of a new tenant. We were somehow linked into that system and when they got cut so did we. Sorry again for any inconvienience.

In anticipation of the upcoming storm this Thursday I thought it might be a good time to put out a few reminders of some prep you might want to consider/remember: HOME: Take a look at your gutters to make sure that they drain well and don't cause water to back up. Make sure that you don't have any down pipe clogs. Check drainage lines that you have on your property and be sure the covers are free and unobstructed. You might look for any other areas of concern on the roof a...s well and take steps to mitigate those. With the most recent storms there are lots of leaves still on the ground or roof. Do the best you can to clean those up. The downed leaves have a tendency to really block/stop up drains and covered grates. That can cause water to pool in areas not normally a problem. You might even consider raking a few leaves from an adjoining neighbor. Even though the leaves are NOT YOURS they can stop up YOUR drains. Check the city or county storms drains near your homes and be sure they are not clogged. POOL: If you have a pool check to see what your water level is currently. They are expecting somewhere between 2-5 inches over 48 hours. You might want to give yourself a little extra room for direct rain fall and runoff into the pool. Consider hooking up your hose to the pump equipment prior to the storm, if equipped, so if needed during the storm you are only a flick of a switch away from draining pool water. AUTO: From the most recent set of storms last week you may have noticed places on roadways where water pooled and puddled. Try to remember those locations and avoid if needed. Most streets are sloped to the right toward the outside lane as you drive. If possible avoid driving in the right most lanes. That is typically where the gutter and drains are. The water drains there and if clogged will typically pool first. Even though according to my oldest son Trevor it’s awesome to watch cars become boats and put off a wake through the puddles/street lakes it can cause vehicles to stall and have accidents. If you get into one of those puddles inadvertently take your foot off the accelerator and try to avoid stomping on the brakes. That is a recipe for a hydroplane situation. Let the water slow you down, don’t stop, keep both hands on the wheel and keep the car moving at a safe and controllable speed until you are out of the puddle/street lake. This will help you avoid stalling and in deeper puddles letting in water from the doors. There were 3 claims my office had from driving through standing water like this from the last storm. I love the rain and storms! So enjoy the water, we need it and try to be safe
