We would like to announce that our office will reopen on May 18 after weeks of closure due to COVID-19. This will be a slow and careful reopening according to best practices. We will continue to provide highest standards of infection control, and have added new technologies to remove airborne contamination. We will be calling all of our patients, especially those who had appointments canceled. We understand that some people may wish to delay treatment for now, while others are excited to get needed work done. Hang in there and we will all strive for a new normal together.

Dentists have been identified as high risk for spreading the virus through aerosols created by the drill. There will undoubtedly be some new rules for protective equipment. I’m hoping I don’t have to practice in full Darth Vader gear!!!

Update on office closure: the ADA and CDA have decided that all non-essential dental treatment should wait until the COVID19 crisis has settled down. Emergency treatment for swelling or infection only is available at this time. Dentists are at very high risk for sharing the virus. In our current situation, obtaining the appropriate protective gear is impossible as all protective gear is being sent to hospitals awaiting a surge of sick patients. We will take this time to prepare our office for re-opening, hopefully in mid April????? We are also using this time to take classes and clean everything. We hope to open for routine dental appointments as soon as the situation allows. Hang in there.

In these uncertain times, the best we can do is listen to our experts and calmly do our part to help our society ride this out. Our office will not see patients this week. We will deep clean our office and rearrange our schedule to allow for continuing patient care. This means decreasing our capacity to ensure cleanliness and safe distancing in the waiting room. We will continue to be available for emergencies. This too shall pass. Everyone take care of yourselves and be kind to each other.
