We needed to quickly recruit and hire team members in Mexicali during the month of June. Thanks to Mercedes Avila and Jovany Macias, we were able to hire five times as many people in the month of June than we did in our highest month before COVID-19. Outstanding job, team!

Prior to COVID-19, associates in our Mexicali manufacturing facilities were typically trained on only one product line. As cases increased in Baja and more of the workforce stayed home, we needed the rest of our associates to move between multiple lines so we could send them to the areas with the most need. Value Stream Managers like Isela Santos and Francisco Leyva on-boarded new employees to their systems within days while increasing production, managing the installation of safety barriers and maintaining strict social distancing protocols. Great job to all of our team members who quickly shifted gears to get the job done!

To keep up with growing demand from elective surgeries, we set a goal to hire and onboard 50 employees a week in Mexico the number we’d ordinarily expect to do every two months. We needed to come up with a plan to maintain proper social distancing guidelines, as we didn’t have a single conference room that could handle that volume of people. Within a day, a group led by senior manager Ricardo Villafuerte had cleared a section of our warehouse and made it into a training and interview center, using only boxes already on hand. Great job to our Mexicali team for finding a creative solution!

As the leader of our Customer Care team and a 20+ year Breg employee, Michele was thrown a curveball when COVID-19 struck the US. Within a few days in mid-March, Michele and our IT team had transitioned our entire customer care team from our office in Carlsbad to their work-from-home set-ups, without a disruption in service. Thank you for your commitment to our customers!

Recently, we’ve experienced shipping capacity constraints in our distribution facility in Indianapolis due to the broad-reaching effects of COVID-19. Knowing that our customers urgently needed post-op products for patient surgeries, we had reps in our Great Lakes region, led by their Regional Director, Rob MacNeill, drive as far as six hours to pick up products at the warehouse and deliver them directly to the health care facilities that needed them most.
