This year more than ever it’s vital that we properly, and frequently, wash our hands to stop the transmission of harmful germs. Let’s all do our part to keep each other healthy. The CDC recommends following these five steps when washing our hands: 1. Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap, and apply soap.... 2. Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails. 3. Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the Happy Birthday song from beginning to end twice. 4. Rinse your hands well under clean, running water. 5. Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them. #NationalHandwashingAwarenessWeek

Rates of breast cancer in the U.S. vary by race and ethnicity, so do rates of breast cancer deaths. According to the CDC, breast cancer death rates are 40% higher among black women than white women. It’s important to be diligent with having yearly screening mammograms, as early detection leads to more successful treatment.

In these extraordinary times, it’s more important than ever to be kind to yourself and make self-care a priority. Excessive stress can lead to an increase in a variety of health problems and depression, but self-care helps to sharpen mental and physical health, betters self-esteem, helps with stress management and leads to better wellbeing overall. Self-care doesn’t have to be expensive or time-consuming. Self-care is not self-indulgent. Self-care is not selfish. Here are a few ways to incorporate self-care into your daily life.

3D Mammography is the state of the art mammogram technology that improves our ability to detect breast cancers. It has some distinct advantages over conventional 2D mammograms, most notably is its ability to create a 3D or volumetric image of the breast. If a 2D mammogram is like looking at the floor plan of a home, then a 3D mammogram allows you to open the doors and look inside, affording a more detailed evaluation.
