The Brea City Council will meet for its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, January 19 at 7 p.m. Due to the uptick in COVID-19 cases, the Council Chambers will be closed to the public. The County is reporting 68 new COVID-19 cases in Brea since January 30. This brings Brea’s cumulative COVID-positive case count to 2,531 Brea residents. Of the total confirmed cases, Brea has 250 children who have contracted COVID-19. Unfortunately, 41 Brea residents have passed away from the virus. According to County statistics, there have been 235,310 confirmed COVID-19 cumulative cases county-wide, 602 of which were newly-reported today. Orange County is reporting 50 additional deaths today, bringing the total fatalities to 3,249. Currently, 1,238 cases are hospitalized, 365 of which are in the ICU. As of 3:30 PM, a spot fire has ignited from the #CanyonFire. Air and Fire resources are currently investigating and working to extinguish it.
