BCI ALUMNI: Your art deserves to be shared! Now's your chance. Submit an original piece of art-- whatever medium you'd like-- to be a part of our virtual art exhibition. Even if you didn't participate in a Kol Demama workshop, you can still submit something by August 9th. www.aju.edu/voicewithin
Pretty cool that over the last 4 Sundays, 48 different BCI alumni, representing 13 different aliyot--from 1949-2019-- sang, wrote, learned, and experimented together as part of our Kol Demama: The Voice Within workshops.
Inspired by the creativity of BCI artist-educator Yavni Bar-Yam who arranged matza crumbs into the shape of Miriam dancing with her timbrel and the words "chag sameach" (a blessing for a joyous holiday). Wishing you all a safe, healthy, and meaningful conclusion of Passover.
Really feeling the wisdom of our ancestors who wrote these words: "How good and pleasant it is for us to dwell together." When we emerge from the darkness of this chapter, may we rejoice in the preciousness of touch, the harmony of voices singing together, the sacredness of coming together for Shabbat. Deeply hoping we'll gather together this summer for BCI 2020!
Thank you Allison Darcy Mitteer (BCI '14) for offering your reflections on some of the unexpected blessings of the moment, including our song session last Wednesday. Looking forward to singing together again tomorrow! https://www.jta.org//before-the-coronavirus-i-hadnt-gone-t
"Let's make the best of this day." Written as a prayer 9 months ago in an interactive workshop in our tinkering studio. Still true today-- and as important as ever. May the prayers we offer today help us find footing, now and always.
So inspiring to sing together, bridging time and space, bringing hearts together in this challenging time. Thank you BCI community. Special shout-out to the talented Harold Messinger for guiding us in song. #bcialumni #continentssingtogether #sacred space #bekind
When you find your people, this is what it looks like. Find yours at #bci2020
Beyond the frivolity of the holiday, Purim invites us to ask serious questions about the lives we live, the truths we hold fast to, where the "real" and the "shadow" collide. What costumes are you always wearing? What stories do you tell that mask who you'd really like to be? Who knows if NOW is the time to speak your truth? #HappyPurim #PurimTorah #Purimforgrownups #ShadowPurim #Dancewiththelight #bci2020
Definitely a challah with sprinkles kinda weekend. Sending y'all a sweet Shabbat! #bci2020 #customchallah #costumechallah #purimiscoming #shabbatshalom
