Please join the International Institute Centennial Celebration Saturday November 15,2014 Party in the Day and Dance the Night away to a lovely night view of Downtown Los Angeles . Party starts at 11:00 AM to 3: 00 PM Dance starts at 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Parking is available at Puente Learning Center next door to the International Institute.... We are pleased to announce that the International Institute has provided the Boyle Heights Historical Society with an office space. BHHS is excited to finally have a home after 8 years. Join us for Boyle Heights History Day! A celebration of the people and places of Boyle Heights through history, music and poetry. Saturday, November 8th, from 10:00 to 4:00 at the Breed Street Shul, 247 N. Breed St. Done in partnership with the Little Tokyo Historical Society, Boyle Heights History Day honors Mollie Wilson Murphy. The full program is as follows: 10:00 Music from John Torres of the Neighborhood Music School; 10:30 - 12:30 Mollie Wilson Murphy Family Speakers; 12:45 Panel Discussion of Historic Japanese Hospital (located at 1st and Fickett); 2:45 Famous Poet Ruben Guevara; 3:00 - 3:45 Film, 'Stand Up for Justice: The Ralph Lazo Story followed by a Q&A. We hope to see you there!

The Boyle Heights Historical Society is holding a celebration of the rich and vibrant history of the community, through sound and vision hosted at the historic, Breed Street Shul Saturday, November 3, 2012, 12:00 6:00 pm, 247 North Breed Street, Los Angeles, CA 90033. This year’s event offers a special opportunity for preservation of images and stories. The day will begin with the collection of oral history from Boyle Heights’ community members both past and present. A...nd residents are also encouraged to bring their photographs, both old and new, for scanning and inclusion in the photo archives. The event will also include fun activities such as mural painting, sponsored by the Estrada Courts Mural Project, an exhibit of historical photos, poetry reading. There will be music, tours of the Breed Street Shul, and historical presentations covering the inception of Boyle Heights, to the preservation of some of the community’s most iconic murals. People wishing to record an oral history are encouraged to make at appointment by calling 323-240-1888 or emailing the Boyle Heights Historical Society at [email protected]. There are limited spaces.
