Many, many people put off filing bankruptcy because they don't want to admit it's needed. But most times you should be doing it sooner rather than later. Sometimes waiting can cost you a LOT more money down the road. https://www.boyerlaw.group//how-chapter-7-bankruptcy-can-g

Hmmm...but is it? I've always heard that medical bills are the #1 reason for bankruptcy, but in my 12 years of practice, I have never filed even one case where this is true. Typically it's credit card debt, a repossessed car balance, or we are dealing with a home foreclosure situation. Article from 2019 but has some good cites in it - one study found only 4% of California bankruptcy filings were because of hospitalization. https://www.politifact.com//health-care-top-reason-bankru/
Driving is very dangerous! Hopefully you never get in an accident, but if you do, it's imperative you have good representation by an attorney. Look at these statistics from the DOT - be careful out there! https://www.ots.ca.gov/ots-and-traffic-safety/score-card/
Sure it's obviously more complicated and on the east coast, but it's nice to remember that big companies have to follow the same bankruptcy laws, rules, and procedures as little old regular people do. https://www.restaurantbusinessonline.com//cosi-files-bankr

Here's a good summary of the other people that could have an interest in your case. https://www.alllaw.com//nolo/personal-i/medical-liens.html
Although it was 15 years ago, many people still refer to the "new" bankruptcy laws. While that may now be a misnomer, the 2005 changes still control the framework that we deal with in bankruptcy today. Here's a little history lesson. https://www.nolo.com//new-bankruptcy-law-chapter-7-13-3004
Chapter 13 bankruptcy is more complicated than Chapter 7, but it also provides powerful solutions that Chapter 7 cannot. This article is comprehensive on the basics of Chapter 13. https://www.debt.org/bankruptcy/chapter-13/
There are numerous reasons why someone would slip, fall, and injure themselves due to a condition on the ground where they are. The question of "whose fault is it" can be quite complicated. Here's a pretty good example of a typical incident from both sides. https://www.nolo.com//slip-fall-settlement-example-califor
