Meaningful and Necessary Change All of us at Outdoor Adventures by Boojum (Boojum) are deeply saddened by the horrific events that have recently taken place. The violence and injustice toward the Black community is inexcusable. George Floyd’s death at the hands of those sworn to serve and protect as well as the countless others whose names we may never know, is tragic. The only way this will be our history and not our future is if we make meaningful and necessary changes. B...oojum’s mission is to Unlock potential, promote self-discovery and inspire growth. We provide experiential education that is life-changing. Everyone should feel welcome, included and valued. Boojum, from our very beginning, has had a zero-tolerance for discrimination, prejudice, bullying and violence in any form. It is our practice and culture to engage with our Board, administration and staff in meaningful dialogue to solve problems both in and out of the field. Over the next few months, Boojum will host a number of listening sessions to gather suggestions, feedback and gain a better understanding on how to improve diversity and inclusiveness in our recruitment, staff trainings and programs. We are looking forward to having those conversations and engaging in dialogue that results in meaningful change. We realize we can do better and together we will.

On this day in 1852 Colonel Henry Washington, deputy surveyor hiked with 12 men over four days to a point that is now monumented at 10,300 feet. It was here that measurements could be taken to begin surveying Southern California. #boojumoutdoors

Boojum is leading three courses out in Joshua Tree this season! Today, about 85% of Joshua Tree National Park is managed as wilderness. Wilderness is an area where the earth and its community of life are untrammeled by man, where man himself is a visitor who does not remain So what does it look like, for a man to visit and not remain? That visit encompasses "Leave No Trace" guidelines. Take a look and make sure you know the LNT principles prior to your next wilderness adventure! #leavenotrace #boojumoutdors #outdooreducation

On this day in 1855 Isaac Singer patented the first sewing machine motor. Lets take a moment to appreciate this feat and the incredible gear that sewing machines and their talented operators make possible. #boojumoutdoors
