This is a very informative article about Tick and symtoms. LYME DISEASE - and Homeopathic Prevention Affects not only humans but also domestic animals such a...s dogs, horses and cattle, that serve as hosts for the tick vectors. Lyme is a baffling condition because it can present itself in so many different ways. Few cases are alike and the wide variety of symptoms that Lyme can produce can be confused with many other canine diseases. Some infected dogs and horses will loose weight show migratory, intermittent arthritis in one joint and then another, sore feet, fevers and neurological symptoms, weeks or even months after infection. The animal may also run a low-grade fever. In long standing cases, destructive chronic inflammation can compromise the animal’s heart, kidneys and nervous system. However, the signs of a rash developing at the site of the tick bite that you read about in cases of human Lyme disease almost never occurs in animals or it it not readily seen because of the coat. Lameness due to Lyme disease often shifts from leg to leg. These swollen joints are usually inflamed, hot and painful. Occasionally the lymph nodes at the base of the legs may be slightly enlarged as well. The front legs are most commonly affected. When they are, it is the lymph node on the shoulder of that leg that may be enlarged. Many animals with Lyme will also become depressed. They may cry out when these joints are pressed and be quite reluctant to walk. When they do walk, they walk with a stiff, shuffling gait and the animal may arch it’s back because of the pain. Should A Lime-Positive Dog Be Vaccinated For Lyme Disease ? I do not recommend it. If your pet has already been exposed to Lyme organism proteins, its immune system will retain the memory of it. Many of the kidney, joint and neurological problems associated with chronic Lyme disease are thought to be due to chronic exposure to these proteins and the body’s reaction to them. In my personal opinion, I do not feel it would be wise to inject more of these proteins into the animals system. If - for some reason - I could not control my pet’s exposure to Lyme-carrying ticks, I would prefer to use a homeopathic nosode over a conventional vaccine.e Conventional Treatment Covert Spirochetes The microorganism that causes Lyme disease is Borrelia burgdorferi, a spirochete (pronounced SPY- ro-keet) or spiral-shaped bacterium. Leptospirosis and syphilis are also caused by spirochetes, which are extremely difficult to eradicate because they hide in tendons, muscle tissue, lymph nodes, organs such as the heart and brain, and other parts of the body, where they can remain dormant for years. Its symptoms are very noticeable in dogs, They look like they’re coming down with the flu. They ache everywhere, walk hunched over as though stepping on eggshells, limp, have no appetite, and move in slow motion. Some will experience a stiff neck, their head may ache, they don’t want to be in bright light, and they squint (photophobia). Conventional prescription antibiotics cannot eliminate the spirochetes entirely. The microorganisms actually hide and, over time, can build up again and cause a relapse. One way to trigger a relapse, is by treating the animal with corticosteroids. These drugs are immune system suppressants. There have been dogs treated with antibiotics that remained symptom-free for over a year and a half, but as soon as they were treated with corticosteroids, they went lame with Lyme disease. Steroid drugs are absolutely not a good idea for any dog that has been treated for Lyme. Like other spirochetes, such as those that cause syphilis, the Lyme spirochete can remain in the body for years in a non-metabolic state. It is essentially in suspended animation, and since it does not metabolize in this state, antibiotics are not absorbed or effective. When the conditions are right, those bacteria that survive can seed back into the blood stream and initiate a relapse. Injuries, illnesses, and other immune system stresses can also trigger recurrences. Even a wasp sting may reactivate Lyme disease months after the initial attack. Vaccinations, infections, an abscessed tooth, and even emotional stress can impair the immune system enough to let hidden spirochetes flourish. During this time the Lyme disease spirochetes, which live in the mid-gut of the tick, migrate to the tick’s salivary gland. This method of transmission is so specific that even other species of tick, such as the dog tick, have not been shown to transmit Lyme disease even if they carry the spirochete. They can transmit other illnesses, such as Rocky Mountain spotted fever, ehrlichiosis, and babesiosis, but not Lyme disease. A tick has to feed for 24 to 48 hours before it can transmit any spirochetes. How to Remove a Tick Be careful when removing a tick, grasp it with tweezers firmly at the head, as close to the dog’s skin as possible, and slowly pull straight back. Never twist, press, burn, or apply irritating substances like kerosene to an attached tick because doing so can cause the parasite to expel the contents of its digestive tract, like a ‘hypodermic needle’ directly into the host animal. Once the tick has been removed, the area should be cleaned using three-percent hydrogen peroxide, the common disinfectant. Peroxide is recommended for tick bites because the oxygen it contains destroys the Lyme disease bacteria. Hydrogen peroxide can be liberally poured over bites on light-haired animals (keep it away from eyes and apply directly to the skin) but because of its bleaching effect, this method is not recommended for black or dark-haired animals. However, if you use an eyedropper to apply hydrogen peroxide directly to the bite it will help prevent unwanted lightening of the hair. Bee propolis, sold in health food stores as a cold and flu preventive, is an excellent topical disinfectant and natural antibiotic. Liquid propolis can be applied to bites, cuts, burns, and other injuries with an eyedropper or mixed with small amounts of aloe vera gel to treat larger areas. Reapply frequently for best results, especially on the day of a tick bite and for the following 3 days. Save the tick by placing it in a covered jar with either 180 proof vodka, grain alcohol or brandy and label it with the date, on whom it was found and where on the body. In the unlikely event that all else fails, the tick can be made into a homeopathic remedy. This is known as isopathy, which works under principles similar to homeopathy. But for now, just keep the tick in a jar. Homeopathic Treatment of Lyme First Aid Take note of all symptoms and contact your homeopathic practitioner/vet immediately. The sooner first aid is applied, the better the outcome. If you have found a tick on your pet, remove it properly and completely then dose Homeopathic Ledum p. 200c or 30c whatever you have handy. Then you should work with your homeopath to limit lyme exposure and for complete treatment. Lyme vaccines are fairly ineffective and toxic. Contact your professional animal Homeopath for Lyme Disease prevention.

"Rescued Horses-Rescue People" Hearts 4 Horses Rescue, Rehabilitation & Sanctuary was founded to help horses of any kind in any way possible. Many are off the race track injured and abandoned which in many cases lead to slaughter. Others have suffered extreme neglect and abuse. ... After these horses have had some time to rest and heal, they are retrained to work with children, teens and adults who may be going through difficult times offering them the unconditional love that only these great spirits can give. Providing for the needs of these horses to be rehabilitated can be astronomical. These costs include Veterinary & Farrier Services (shoes & trimming), Hay, Equine Senior & supplements, teeth floats (dentist) acupuncture, chiropractor and training to prepare them to be a part of our programs or future adoption. Since moving to a new ranch almost a year ago, Hearts 4 Horses is in desperate need of shelters for the upcoming cold rainy season. Many of the horses are older and have a hard time with the harsh weather. It takes a team of volunteers and a lot of love and financial support to meet the needs of these horses. Please donate today and be a part of our community of supporters to make it possible to do the very best for these magnificent animals. A gift of any size is greatly appreciated!
