THIS will change your Monday mood to a good one Is she not the cutest thing?! Believe it or not she came to her session shy, upset, tired and would NOT let go of mom or even look at me. It was 110 degrees out and precious girl was sweating. She is living through a pandemic with drastic changes just like the rest of us. Plus, we all have our days where we just don’t want to. That is all okay. Our kids are constantly told what to do and when to do it -it is kind of just a ...part of life as they need structure and direction but sometimes we forget to get on their level. We truly forget that they are just tiny humans that express themselves differently than adults do. Some of their reactions seem dramatic (and they absolutely can be) but really they are learning to deal with their emotions and feelings appropriately. It’s important to come to their level first rather than forcing them to come to your level, both literally and figuratively. So I sat down near her while giving space, and put my camera down. I asked her about all of her favorite things. Animal. Color. Food. Let them talk about themselves because naturally kids are egocentric until they learn to truly care for others and become sympathetic. It helps them express themselves, feel more comfortable, and even distract from the excessive expression of current emotions. I spent a good 8 minutes being on her level, but our session really only took 2 minutes to shoot because once she was ready, she was absolutely ready! Being patient and flexible with your kids is very important. Just as her mom and I did to help her get through it and feel comfortable. Not every tantrum is for no reason. Although some of y’all could be a little more firm with your kids it’s all about balance though! Keeping it real! #blyssphotography #blyssminis
