We will miss hosting you all today for a brunch feast, but maybe this reminder will inspire you (+ us) to make pancakes for dinner, or top your meal with an egg, or make a mid-day mimosa. Do you miss this face yet? We sure do. With the doors to Bluestem being closed for now, we’ve been missing Adam’s good/bad dad jokes and playful spirit. Staying home is so important and also has its challenges. Beyond the devastation our industry is feeling right now, all humans need connection in some form to stay energized and motivated. Although we can't provide that in-person right now, what this series of photos [captured by the all-star Kelly Puleio hopefully does provi...de is hopefulness that we will one day return to life where we gather with friends at restaurants where hospitable characters just like Adam greet you with a smile and a sense of ease. They make you feel at home and taken care of. This past week contained the most challenging and heart-wrenching days we’ve experienced since opening the doors of Bluestem Brasserie almost nine years ago. Seeing our team, many who have worked with us for years, overwhelmed by the uncertainty that lies ahead amidst the COVID-19 pandemic has shaken us to our core. We have always felt a deep pride employing hard-working, hospitable humans who have thoughtfully prepared and served countless nourishing meals to both our re...gular guests and visitors alike. We have set up a GoFundMe to help our displaced team members provide for themselves and their families during these very tough times. 100% of proceeds will be distributed to our hourly employees. While our goal of $26,000 initially feels quite substantial for 65 people it is just $400 per person which can provide food and access to essentials for the next month. We recognize it's a difficult time for many industries, not just ours, so we truly appreciate your donations of any size ($25, $50, $100 it all adds up). These life-altering circumstances have given us all an opportunity to step in and step up to help feed those who have worked so hard to keep us fed. Dear Friends + Neighbors, You have been on our minds as the impact of the COVID-19/Coronavirus pandemic has rippled through our city, our nation, and our globe. The challenges that lay ahead are hard to fully gauge however we are clear that the well-being of our staff, our guests, and our community remains our main priority. With that at the forefront, our team at Bluestem has made the hard decision to suspend all restaurant services (including delivery) until further notice,... effective today. This difficult decision is part of a best-practices effort rather than a response to an exposure of the virus. We will continue to closely monitor the recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as stay in close communication with local officials. Our hope is to soon return to being the place where you can connect with friends and colleagues over a nourishing meal, and where you choose to gather when life needs celebrating. Until then, stay mindful and calm. Support the local businesses you love if it is within your means. And make sure to rest. We are all healthier and kinder after proper sleep.
