Exciting stuff is happening in Wilmington

This past few months we had some constraints lifted and got after it. The result - Heart of the West - is a short documentary exploring the Colorado River Watershed. A group of twenty three high school students made the film over twelve weeks. We spent quite a bit of time out in the field investigating the river basin from multiple perspectives. Water in the West has long been an issue due to the arid conditions. The challenges are only going to become more pressing as the ch...anging climate creates hotter, drier conditions and the population centers grow in density and need. Our one major western river is what we all rely on for survival - from Moab to Mexicali and points near, far, and in between. We hope this film captures some of that story and gives you a sense of what’s happening with this life giving resource Many thanks to High Tech High, Grotto Climbing, 1% for the Planet, the NGSS, IID, Tex’s Riverways and so many others without which this film wouldn’t have been possible. Pretty stoked to see an all high school film crew capture this footage of 11th grader @thebryceb on a desert tower in Utah. We spent a week in the Upper Colorado River Basin learning about the river and surrounding land including the current tension over Bears Ears and Grand Staircase Escalante. Full film coming soon.
