Oops due to some time off for our own self care we seemed to have missed some amazing days/weeks of awareness! While mental health awareness week was last week, I think we should continue to dismantle the stigma surrounding caring for one's own mental health! Continue to spread awareness don't limit oneself to a week/month. Awareness leads to acceptance. Change happens when we are all actively pushing for change.... Let's change the social narrative of caring for one's mental health and create a more positive connection with the idea of what it means to care for your mental health. This week is OCD awareness week! Heres a few factoids about OCD... Do you know what OCD stands for? Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a common, chronic, and long-lasting disorder in which a person has uncontrollable, reoccurring thoughts (obsessions) and/or behaviors (compulsions) that he or she feels the urge to repeat over and over. People with OCD may have symptoms of obsessions, compulsions, or both.... What's the difference between obsessions and compulsions: Obsessions are repeated thoughts, urges, or mental images that cause anxiety. Compulsionsare repetitive behaviors that a person with OCD feels the urge to do in response to an obsessive thought. The more awareness is spread, the more it leads to acceptance.
