New Bloy House Class for clergy, lay leaders and seminary students to collaborate on applying theology to everyday church situations: "Imagining the Real Church" Starting August 21... Taught by the Rev. Dr. Gianluigi Gugliermetto and visiting instructors and collaborators. This class attempts to bridge the divide between what happens in real-life church situations with what is learned in the course of one's theological studies. It will also help exercise the students' theological muscles by jumping from one theological discipline to another as needed. Respect for different approaches, flexibility in applying one's own understanding, and above all courage and willingness to go deep in creating one's own theo/pastoral outlook are the virtues that will be modeled and sought after in this class. The fee for this class is $275. Classes start August 21 and will meet approximately every other week on Saturday afternoons from 1-4 pm at our new Glendale campus. For more information contact Tim at the office: [email protected] or 909-621-2419.

Upcoming event sponsored by the Guibord Center - Ahimsa and Nonviolence: An Interfaith Exploration of Racism Wednesday, July 28, 2021 | 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. Pacific Time... As part of The Guibord Center’s series on nonviolence, we look at ahimsa, the Hindu concept of recognizing all life as sacred and of doing no harm. How do we embrace ahimsa and other forms of nonviolence while confronting the harm of racism within and around us? Tahil Sharma, a Hindu and Sikh interfaith advocate, will explain more about this way of nonviolence and how it's lived out in daily life. He will then join a panel with Aziza Hasan, Dr. Najuma Smith-Pollard, and others to explore how people of all faiths might use these principles in fighting racism and hate and working toward a more just, compassionate world. Presenter: Tahil Sharma, Hindu-Sikh - Regional Coordinator for North America, United Religions Initiative; Interfaith Minister in Residence, Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles; Advisory Council, The Guibord Center. We were saddened to learn of the death of our beloved former First Testament (Old Testament) professor Canon Dr. James A. Sanders on last Thursday morning. He was a renowned and influential scholar, a brilliant teacher and a devoted Christian. Many Bloy House students learned so much from Jim and many will still hear Jim's voice in their head when they read the First Testament.
