Well, my effort to post more on here ended up in 9 days of no posting is someone kind of burnt out on social media? Yes. But, here’s a post to let you know that, luckily, there have been lots of projects and growth behind the scenes at BLOOMS. There’s been good, some has been hard, there’s unknown, there’s a lot of hope, trial and error, more unknown, more hope, and so far it’s resulted in some pretty great things to be excited about. I’m grateful that September and Oct...ober are full of mini weddings and people have been excited and ready to plan their weddings for 2021. @seanfreshfilms and I had a fun day recently working with @headspace to create an In The Zone video about my design process. That video will be live on @headspace in early November and I’m so excited to share the final product. I also got to play with @sourced_co again (always my favorite) for a new collection to be released in the coming months. I’ve been readying the shop for the holidays which has been a fun experience (basically me moving furniture around every 2 days), and I’ve started installing a 25 foot green wall outside my shop in @artistalleyoceanside. This is the BDH version of minimal. With a starting point of simple and clean lines from @catalogatelier we build UP. Layered tabletop pieces with contrasting textures of brushes gold and thick woven linen bring a tactile juxtaposition. Keeping the color palette neutral led us to create contrast with texture. With a simple floral recipe we bring in surprising elements with gold foiled blooms and industrial looking pin frogs, another fun visual and tactile comparison to create some contrast. I have had a lot of heavy emotions lately. Getting frustrated and reminded at how painful life can be. I can get tunnel vision to avoid the pain and keep myself focused on family. The things that are causing these emotional reminders aren’t new though. Racism didn’t start in March, human trafficking, child exploitation and molestation aren’t new to 2020. Femicide didn’t start recently. Abuse of power, voter suppression, and political corruption weren’t introduced in Ame...rica along with COVID. Whether you are just becoming aware of these things or are just not able to ignore them anymore - they have always been with us and affect us daily in some way. I have gotten to a point where I do not care about the hashtags and social media fads because I see how the people posting are actually behaving in real life. It’s disappointing and it’s hard to watch. You know who else does not care about your black squares, social media campaigns, and outrage? The racists, the human traffickers, the child abusers and molesters, the corrupt politicians .... what I care about now is real life. These people that you are outraged about are at your stores, in your neighborhoods, in your friend circles and families. That guy who goes to the strip club that doesn’t do actual background checks into the age of their performers. That friend of your husband who likes massage parlors. The people consuming porn made by people definitely not of age or turned on by the Underage girls get wild!! Videos. The friend that makes that racist joke everyone is supposed to laugh at. That person at the office that calls the female boss a bitch just because she is assertive. These are common daily occurrences that perpetuate the dark serious issues. While I did love my design studio, with everything going on it didn’t make sense to keep a space that serviced only large event design. I found a beautiful old art gallery that serves as a design space and now daily flower shop! With this space I can accommodate smaller events, walk ins, deliveries, and outdoor workshops until events are allowed indoors again. There are a few projects brewing that this pause in events has been good for. Not ready for an official launch of @floralunabridal but we’re getting ready. Adding a line of veils has been on my mind for years and taking the time to work on the details has been the most fun game of dress up I’ve ever played. The veils are very similar to our BLOOMS style: flowing, botanical, detailed, and a little bit too much. If I would have had a veil for my wedding - these are what I would have chosen from. The collab with @victoriaannevents let me live out my Mariage dans une Orangerie dreams by incorporating the sweetest citrus accents. It’s my birthday this week. I typically don’t tell anyone when my birthday is because I do not like attention for it. My family is not even allowed to sing me happy birthday. If they insist on singing something they have to choose a different song that we can all sing along to. It feels strange to go back to posting pictures of pretty flowers but I guess I can. It seems like it’s not as important as the work that needs to be done in our community but I’m reminded that sharing pretty things and love is an important job. There’s not gonna be one right way to continue on and up from here but there are lots of little steps I can take starting now. I can make sure that my business reflects all types of love. I can make sure that my work reflects the rain...bow of beauty there is in the world.I can continue to share information and resources related to the black lives matter movement. I can find ways to raise funds for organizations that need the money. I can continue to grow and educate myself and have hard conversations. I can show that there’s not one right way to love, not one right way to grow, not one right way to make change, but know that the steps are important no matter how hard they are because love is the most important thing that we can share with others. , B See more

The reality of owning an event based business post Covid is that there are now opportunities to branch into other projects that have always been on the back burner. It’s an opportunity to sit back, rethink, stand up, and move on. We’re slowly adding new services to the event side of the business and gradually growing our space to include a plant showroom, rental space, drive through flower shop, and virtual store for home decor and bridal accessories. All these little seeds of interest now have their time to grow. Our hearts are full! Creating for your favorite mom figures was awesome today! Tomorrow we’ll be doing it again! We’ll have plants available from our new plant shop! Yes! So grateful to @cavinelizabeth for coming to the studio and capturing these sweet moments. My husband and I both do not like having photos taken of ourselves (there are maybe 2 photos that exist of our wedding? - which by the way is a HUGE regret of mine, hire an amazing photographer!!) Cavin made us feel so secure and kept us giggling the whole time. As you can tell by my feed I don’t share photos of myself but these ones I am so excited to share!
