Bloody Point Vineyard 04.11.2020

I have been very remiss in updating what’s going on at the winery! We had a very trying summer working with the vines following the extreme cold last winter. We had a low of -19 degrees and therefore we did not have grapes in 2017. This is the first time since we planted our vineyard in 2010 that we have been without something to harvest! The good news is we have all our 2016 wines in the bottle and have been having good sales. Also since the winter has been mild we expect t...o have a good bud break in the spring and then we must just get through the unpredictable Klamath Basin spring! The last problem I wanted to share with you is that we are currently unable to ship wines. UPS has instituted some news rules and fees that make shipping with them too costly. I am currently looking for alternatives for shipping and will post when this problem has been resolved. Thank you to everyone who has tasted and shared our wines with family and friends! This is certainly turning out to be an interesting journey!

I am not a very good facebooker! The 2016 wines have been coming along very well. We will be bottling the whites in a few weeks so we will again have all available. There is more Moscato but less Gewurztraminer and Chardonnay. We will also have a dry and semi sweet Riesling. I will post when they are available. Sales have gone well for both reds and whites. Each month we sell more than the previous one. Thank you to all who have been so supportive of us.

Well the Reds are finally ready. So far they are in Merrill at Martins and soon to be in Rosterollas, Jocks, and Dons Deli. Of course you can call to order and I will deliver in the Basin or you can come by for a taste and buy it here. There is always the website as well. We wish all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Well harvest is done, wine is made and now we wait for it finish! This has been the harvest from hell! The birds were worse this year than ever before. They ate about half the red grapes even thru the net! The weather was very difficult as it was cold, and wet. The sugars on some weren't as high as usual but they were okay. So far all are tasting pretty good, so we are hopeful. I know this will happen from time to time in the fall so it is something we have to accept.

The reds are aging well! They are tasting so good, hopefully we can bring them out before xmas! We still have Riesling and a small amount of Gewurztraminer left.

We are officially out of Chardonnay! If you still want to buy some, you may be able to find it at a store that carries our wine. Follow the link for a list of places near you.

Q: What do you pair with Gewürztraminer? A: Our Gewürztraminer is a semi-dry white wine that tastes of tropical fruit, melons, and rose petals, making it a perfect match for spicy Asian cuisine, seafood (especially oysters), and grilled chicken and fish. Grab yourself a bottle off of our website and try the recipe below, then let us know what you think! Spicy Cashew Chicken Serves 2 | Prep Time: 15 Minutes | Cook Time: 5 Minutes... Ingredients: 2 tablespoons oil 2 cloves garlic, minced 1/2 small onion, cut into halves 6-8 finger-length dried red chilies, seeded and cut into halves 1/2 cup roasted cashew nuts, rinsed and drained 8 oz chicken, cut into small cubes 1 scallion, trimmed and cut into 1 1/2-in lengths Sauce: 1 teaspoon regular soy sauce (or Maggi seasoning sauce / Golden Mountain sauce) 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce 1 teaspoon fish sauce 1/4 teaspoon sugar or to taste 2 tablespoons water Heat up a wok and add the oil. When the oil is heated, add the garlic, onion, dried red chilies and stir-fry until fragrant or when you smell the spicy aroma of the chilies. Add the cashew nuts and follow with the chicken. Stir-fry the chicken until the surface turns opaque. Add all the ingredients for the Sauce into the wok and continue to stir-fry until the chicken is cooked. Stir-in the scallion, dish out and serve immediately with steamed rice. (Source: rasamalaysia.com)

We thought we might be able to bottle next week but the white wines are just not clear enough yet. Maybe it will be clear enough in 2 to 3 weeks. I will keep all informed. I still have some samples from last year so come for a visit and I will share! "No wine before it's time."
