Nectarine BlackBerry Crostata-not red, white, and blue, but don’t think my tastebuds will complain! Super easy recipe if anyone needs a last minute dessert. Works with all kinds of fruit.

Dear Friends of Bliss, I have waited to share this as I wanted a little more information first. This past March I had a frozen shoulder which led to an x-ray, which showed a bone "lesion." This led to an MRI which revealed that the lesion was actually a cartilaginous tumor. The tumor is near the top of my right arm, it is approximately 1 inch across and it is inside the canal where bone marrow is made. The MRI cannot definitively diagnose whether it is a benign enchondroma ...or a low grade malignant chondrosarcoma. Both are slow growing, non-invasive tumors with good outcomes. I saw a local oncologist last Friday who will refer me to UC San Francisco where they have an orthopedic oncology clinic. I asked God for a word the morning of my local appointment and was given this one: Assurance. I thought of this scripture: Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1All of your prayers, good thoughts, and positive energy are appreciated as we navigate this journey. The tumor is in my dominant arm and I have been advised to minimize stress to the arm. Because of this, we will be suspending Bliss for now. We are not sure what the future holds, but we hope to be able to return sometime in the future to bake the treats you enjoy. If you are wondering about Liz, she has been more of a silent partner for quite awhile. Though she is amazing (she really is!), she is also raising and homeschooling her five children, training a puppy, involved in supporting her church's youth group, babysitting a little nephew, and so much more. There is no time to fit Bliss Baking Co. in the picture. I will be forever grateful to her for starting the company with me, she is by far the organized one! The sweet retiree definitely knows his way around the kitchen, but he will need his energy to support me over the next months. If you are not already familiar with some of the other places to find gluten free and paleo treats locally, below I have listed a few. Raw Fresno (559) 250-5292 Frosted Cakery (559) 917-8880 Tasty Morsels for macaroons (559) 707-3560 Ooh de Lolli Kitchen Works (559) 246-4841 Sprouts, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Costco, and most grocery stores now carry more gluten free and grain free options. I am also happy to share recipes if you would like to try your hand at baking at home. We appreciate each one of you and will miss our interactions. Blessings, Candy, (Jim, and Liz)

Dear Friends of Bliss, You have all been in our thoughts and prayers during this time of shelter-in-place. We miss you! As with other businesses, we are doing a "soft" re-opening. We are happy to take orders and will do our best to fill them. Peaches and nectarines are ripening-a good time for cobblers and crisps! We don't have specific items that we are baking, but are baking to order. We are doing porch pick-ups at this time. We have a few ways to pay electronically and ...are always happy to take cash. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to respond here or call Candy at 559-313-9567. Blissfully yours, Candy and Liz

I tried a new recipe-so good! Macaroon Cake. Here is the original recipe: https://www.realsimple.com//browse-al/macaroon-cake-recipe I subbed 1/2 cup honey in place of a cup of sugar. It is plenty sweet enough with all the coconut.

Dear Friends of Bliss, Just checking in to see how everyone is doing. We hope you and yours are safe. We are doing well. Liz's family got a puppy! What a joy at a difficult time. Even if it means getting up in the middle of the night and having to clean up after puppy accidents. Candy and the sweet retiree are doing well. Finding ways to spend our days and trying to reach out to others who have greater needs. Please let us know if we can be of service. I have had porch pick...-ups of yeast, drop offs of bleach, and we shared our Easter meal with some homeless friends. I am not trying to "toot" my horn, only reminding us all that there is probably someone you will encounter this week-by social media, phone call, text, or Zoom meeting that you can bless. Take good care, Candy and Liz 559.313.9567/559.824.5441

I have been having a hard time getting much done that "needs" to be done. This morning I renewed my liability insurance to keep Bliss in business for one more year. For now we are NOT serving the public, but hope to resume business in the future. I miss my customers/friends. I miss trying to come up with a product that meets someone's dietary restrictions. I miss hearing about an anniversary or birthday surprise. I am happy to share recipes and tips with anyone who might want to try their hand at baking some Bliss treats at home. Please don't hesitate to comment here or send a private message! I hope you are all healthy and finding ways to weather this surreal time. Grace, mercy, and peace to you and yours. <3

If there is a Bliss recipe you are interested in making at home please send us a private message. If you have oats and a food processor or vita-mix type blender you can make oat flour. A little trickier to make almond flour/meal, but not impossible. For local folks, I noticed Costco had almond flour a few days ago. Please reach out if we can be of help with ideas for gluten free cooking and baking.

Dear Friends of Bliss, it has been almost a month since we last connected with you all. We want to assure you we are still here. Candy had a stomach bug the end of the February and has had several family obligations. The Bliss kitchen is currently closed until Thursday, March 26. We will be happy to take your orders after that. Please be kind to each other and wash your hands!
