I don't even know where to start with Erica and Emil's @higueraranch wedding. A perfect post-ceremony candid surrounded by their huge bridal party (14 bridesmaids!), with Erica looking stunning in her third generation heirloom dress, and Emil with a huge grin underneath his perfect beard is appropriate!

These tiny feet were photographed on January 1st. What a perfect way to start the year. I haven't really had time to contemplate romantic 2018 resolutions between holidays and (thankfully!) continued weddings, sessions, and meetings. This year will be FIVE years BKM Photography has been operating in California. Five years of being trusted to capture the memories of newly formed families, adding tiny people to those families, celebrating milestones with those familie...s. I've always loved the fact that the images I make go down in every family's personal history. The following generations will see their great great great grandparents as I capture them. I have always known it was worthwhile work. But as a continue to learn and grow with my craft, continue to grow in my marriage and grow my own babies, I feel with new certainty this work is heavy. It's worthwhile. It's a privilege. If you have met me, I've told you I have the best clients. If you're a colleague, you probably think I'm bragging. I am. If you're my couple, you probably think I say that to everyone. I do. Because every couple that finds me and trusts me is a gift, and their love is my very favorite in it's own special way. CHEERS . Lauren and Brian held the first event at what was to become the Côté Est restaurant on York in Highland Park. The wedding reception was originally booked with the restaurant that previously held the space. When they abruptly closed, I immediately contacted my couple, worried about having to find a last minute venue (so hard to do in LA ). Turns out, the folks behind All'acqua and Barbrix agreed to honor the contract. . If I have the story straight, escrow closed j...ust days before the wedding. They rushed to clean up the space and prep for the reception. AND IT WAS AMAZING. The back patio was beautiful, the food was out of this world, the staff were so skilled and kind. I can't say enough positive things . I'm so happy to have been a part of Lauren and Brian's wedding, and so thrilled Côté Est is in the neighborhood. Doing the work that I love with some of the best people, some of the best food, and in my favorite neighborhood... This was definitely one of the high points of my year! See more
