DONOR STORY: Beverlee French ’71, M.L.S. ’73 Cal alum Beverlee French provided a generous gift to the Botanical Garden as a way to give back to the University that launched her career. Beverlee decided to make a bequest to Berkeley because it fit best with her personal goals. Bequests allow assets to remain in the donor's control during their lifetime, and create legacies that live on. With the help of Beverlee's bequest gift, the Garden will continue to flourish for years t...o come! This is a great photo of Martin Luther King, Jr. speaking to Berkeley students on May 17th, 1967. Please take a moment to read the SF Gate article linked below which details Dr. King's visit to the University:

#InThisGen Congratulations to UC Berkeley's Prasad Raghavendra, and Jennifer Doudna, both of whom were honored by the National Academy of Sciences for their contribution to innovative research! Professor Doudna won the 2018 NAS Award in Chemical Sciences, while Professor Raghavendra shared the Michael and Sheila Held Prize with Professor David Steurer from ETH Zurich. What's more, this is the inaugural year for awarding The Michael and Sheila Held Prize, which was made possi...ble through a generous bequest from the estate of Michael and Sheila Held! http://news.berkeley.edu//national-academy-of-sciences-ho/

#InThisGen Glaucoma is estimated to affect 80 million people worldwide, but vision scientists at UC Berkeley and the University of Toronto have discovered a way to potentially stop this neurodegenerative disease from progressing in patients. What is even more exciting, this discovery may be applicable to treat and possibly prevent other neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's or ALS! http://news.berkeley.edu//11/06/potential-glaucoma-treatm/
