Peak harvest time here at Finca Los Planes

Just arrived at Finca Los Planes in Chalatenango, El Salvador, very close to Honduras. The mountains you can see here are actually in Honduras.

Where's Chuck? En route to Central America. Chuck will be traveling from Guatemala to El Salvador to Panama in search of fantastic coffee. Check in through out the next two weeks for updates and photos from the farms. This morning Chuck is cupping w our friends at La Bolsa. With your help we raised $800 through our Beyond the Bean program to help support the school and day care center they established at their farm!

Tis a sad day at BRCR. Jocylynn will be working her last day with us today at the Bird Rock location before moving to Truckee! We are gonna miss her a ton! An...d we know you all will too so come on in at some point and say "goodbye". Joc will be around a bit on Saturday too, timing TBD but we will let you know. See more

Hello all, BIG NEWS! We are thrilled to announce that Bird Rock Coffee is going to get a bit bigger: TOPEKA, KANSAS JANUARY 25, 2017 PT’s Coffee Roasting Co. of Topeka, Kansas will welcome Bird Rock Coffee Roasters of San Diego, California to their roaster family on January 30, 2017. The merger will allow PT’s to take a primary leadership role and financial stake in Bird Rock Coffee Roasters. The goal of the venture is to further develop the retail and wholesale efforts o...f the Bird Rock Coffee Roasters brand. Jeff Taylor, Co-Founder and CEO of PT’s Coffee, will be relocating to San Diego to lead the team. There he will work with Bird Rock founder Chuck Patton, who will take on the role of Head Coffee Buyer for both companies. Taylor and Patton have known each other for nearly 10 years, working side-by-side in the industry. The two companies found common ground in their similar Direct Trade philosophies, working toward the goal of creating the highest-quality coffee possible from origin to cup. Taylor notes, That’s what makes this the perfect fit. PT’s was one of the pioneers of the Direct Trade model of purchasing and Bird Rock was successfully built itself around the same principals. PT’s Coffee Roasting Co. and Bird Rock Coffee Roasters have both received the Coffee Roaster of the Year award by Roast Magazine, in 2009 and 2012 respectively. We look forward to continuing to innovate within the Direct Trade model and relentlessly pursuing the perfect cup of coffee, says Taylor. Bird Rock has consistently lived up to our motto of, Without the Love, It’s Just Coffee, and we are thrilled to be working with them to grow their brand.
