Currently enrolled Biola art students and faculty are invited to participate in The Mat Challenge, a department-wide, semester-long, mailable relay challenge that builds community through the act of making. Challenge boxes will be mailed to the first round of participants at the beginning of the challenge, with each box containing undisclosed materials and restrictions for making the thing. As soon as the box is opened, the challenge begins. The objective is to Make A Thing u...sing the materials in the box and working within the restrictions provided. At the conclusion of the challenge, participants will document their thing and submit it for voting on Instagram. Participants will then replenish any materials they have used, alter one of the restrictions provided, and then forward the box to the next participant. Challenge boxes will continually evolve as participants exchange materials and alter restrictions, generating new results with every recipient. Want to participate?
