With the United States general election coming up in less than five weeks on Tuesday, November 3, Political and Environmental Activism Club wanted to share some important information for students, parents, teachers, and faculty regarding voter registration. You must be registered to vote in order to vote in the November election. The deadline to register to vote online in California is Monday, October 19. To register to vote online, visit California's official site at registe...rtovote.ca.gov. You must be at least 18 years old to register to vote. However, if you're currently 16 or 17 years old, you can pre-register to vote online at registertovote.ca.gov. This means that, once you turn 18, you'll be automatically registered to vote. If you need to update or change any information, such as your address, you can re-register online at registertovote.ca.gov. If you would like to check your voter registration status, which is always highly recommended, visit voterstatus.sos.ca.gov. Please note that all registered voters in California will automatically receive a ballot to vote by mail for the election. If you would like to track your vote-by-mail ballot, visit california.ballottrax.net/voter. For California's official voter registration site, which includes all relevant information about deadlines, voting centers, and more, visit sos.ca.gov//voting-reso/voting-california/registering-vote. Lastly, if you're interested in becoming a paid poll worker (which is open to anyone who is at least 16 years old on November 3rd), visit sos.ca.gov/elections/poll-worker-information. If you have any questions, you can call the California Secretary of State's line at 1-800-345-VOTE. Let's turn up voter turnout this election! A message from the Political and Environmental Activism Club #bisv #homeofthebobcats #vote

Ms. Kosiba earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in French from Western Illinois University with a minor in Philosophy. Since childhood, the importance of multilingualism has been captivating, and ultimately inspired her to pursue an educational path that took her overseas. Ms. Kosiba is proud to have dual citizenship in the United States and in France. Although originally hailing from Chicago, she acquired French citizenship after working and starting a family while living in Met...ropolitan France and New Caledonia. During her last three years in New Caledonia, she taught foreign language using immersion techniques in a new public bilingual school, Frederic Surleau. She first heard about BASIS Curriculum Schools from her sister. Ms. Kosiba says, As I was looking to teach in California, I saw that BASIS Independent Silicon Valley valued teachers as content experts. Today, I like that we do not limit ourselves, instead valuing diverse backgrounds, teachers that are knowledgeable and are motivated to teach with passion for their subject. She also teaches a French Capstone called Translation and Philosophy. In her free time, she loves to dance and continues to take modern dance classes. She also loves to read and enjoys books that have a philosophical twist. #bisv #homeofthebobcats #teachertuesday #mskosiba
