Congratulating us on this - Billboard Magazine - The 100 Greatest Music Videos of the 21st Century: Critics' Picks The Greatest Music Video of the 21st Century "BAD ROMANCE" Amazing! Of Course, Thank you to Lady Gaga and Director Francis Lawrence for the Opportunity and inspiration, but I really want to say a special Thank you to The Billboard Magazine Staff - specifically Nolan Feeney... Mr. Feeney, I would like to say Thank you very much - From Me, but also on behalf of all Makeup Artists... I cannot begin to tell you how much it means to me, or any Artist to be specifically recognized for our work. But in this case, and for so many reasons, it really means alot - You Say in your Review of the Video regarding the Makeup - Bad Romance features some of her most gorgeous music-video looks -- as silly as it seems now in the post-Joanne era, the video was praised by some critics for the stripped-down and normal makeup on display -- as well as her most unsettling." The reason that your words mean so much to me, and should to all makeup Artists as well, is that you not only "noticed' but you felt that the Makeup, and choices that I made were worth "noting" And, That what made the Makeup worth noting, wasn't really about "MAKEUP" at all..... There are many, many things that "Make MAKEUP GREAT", and "Great Makeup Artists" -and, most of them have nothing to do with makeup at all... ... it isn't something that you learn in school, or by watching a Makeup Tutorial on youtube... I had worked on hundreds of music videos before "Bad Romance" 3 of which are also on your list - 46. Lady Marmalade who I painted Missy and Pink 28. Get Your Freak - I painted Missy 14. Telephone - again Lady Gaga Bad Romance was different - It was not about me - and in the "moment" that you noticed and noted, it it was not about Makeup - It was about Lady Gaga - And, yes there was makeup, even a pair of False Eyelashes, and if you look closely one is unglued - In that moment, through her Tears, Her makeup or Unglued eyelash is not what we saw - We saw Lady Gaga A Gaga none of us had ever seen before - And, a GAGA that none of us will ever forget.... Thank you SO MUCH for noticing BAD ROMANCE has been viewed more than 911 Million times.. xo b.
