Here are a few photos of a recent project. This little secretary desk was almost black when it came in. None of the beautiful feathered Mahogany grain even showed. Note the detail in the drop down writing surface. The brass gallery rail was missing, so we ordered a new railing , and installed it.

Before, and after photos of a recent project. This antique school desk belongs to a long time, local client. Many of the items he, and his wife have done hold a sentimental value, which makes their projects fun to do. This particular desk was the one his uncle sat in while attending school. He carved his initials in the seat, so we worked around them, and were able to save them.

The following images are an antique mirror restoration we are soon to begin. The mirror ( all eleven foot tall, and four foot wide of it) is owned by a Montecito resident. The mirror has been in her collection for some time, and the restoration is a project she has long wished to do. The mirror itsel was purchased while on holiday in Scotland, although design of the piece likely points to French origin. The construction, and materials used date the piece mid to late 17th century. Restoration will require two to three months, and many man hours to complete. Please check back for updated photos as work progresses.

A rare turn of the century pool table. Manufactured by Brunswick- Balke & Collender Co., this model Old Mission style came in two different configurations four ...or six legged. This particular table is of the latter configuration, making it rather rare. This model, last produced in 1905 is heavily influenced by the Arts & Crafts movement. It has all the earmarks of that period, clean lines, solid construction, and quarter sawn oak veneer. This table came into the shop in need of numerous repairs, notice the red out lines on the photos which indicate badly repaired damage. Apparently a previous owner thought it would be best to paint the leg bottoms black to hide the damage, and repairs. Have an antique drawer that sticks? An old candle, or paraffin wax may do the trick. Pull the drawer out, and turn it upside down. rub the rails with the wax, the drawer socket itself may have rails and you will want to do those also. Replace drawer, and try a few times.
