The end of the year is fast approaching, and when January 1st arrives, many dental plans re-set your yearly benefits. You may be missing out on getting together with friends, but we don't want you missing out on healthy teeth. Call today to schedule your cleaning and don't let those premiums go to waste!
Holidays are a time for fun... and lots of sweets! While we enjoy a christmas cookie or some egg nog ourselves, it's important to remember that as in many things, a little goes a long way. Have some fun this holiday season - and remember to drink plenty of water alongside your holiday treat - and brush regularly!
Show your smile to the world! Smiling lifts the spirits, can communicate empathy, love, humor, and so many other emotions. Yet sometimes we lack the confidence to grin with a friend, or connect through a laugh on video. Our experienced team can help you find the natural smile you were born to have. Call us and we'll be happy to listen to your goals and craft a solution just for you. Now isn't that something to smile about?
From all of us at Bijan Family Dental Practice, to all of you - a very Happy Holiday season, and best wishes for a joy-filled New Year!
Still have your wisdom teeth? Even though we're wearing masks these days, it's still important to keep your smile healthy. Dentists and Oral Surgeons recommend removing your wisdom teeth (or third molars) before you turn 20 for less complications during surgery. Ready to schedule your appointment? Give us a call to find out more about how we can support your healthy smile.
If there is one thing that regular Zoom conference calls has revealed, it's how much we are looking at our teeth now! While teeth whitening or veneers can give us a more youthful smile, and straightening your teeth is always a good idea for the longevity of your smile, having daily hygiene habits that care for your teeth are an important foundation to keeping your teeth for your lifetime. So here's a thumbs up for dental health!
Practice good habits for a lifetime of health and well-being. As you teach a younger generation or as you learn new lessons yourself, remember it's never too late to implement a habit of self-care.
Yes! We're currently open to serve your dental health needs. With all of the closures happening across the country, it's important for you to know that we take your safety seriously. In addition to our exceptionally high safety standards already in place, we have some extra steps in place to make your visit comfortable and safe. To learn more, visit our website or call us if you have any questions. We can't wait to see you!
Did you know that this week we celebrated National Brush Your Teeth Day? While every day is a tooth-brushing day, it's fun to know that we have a day dedicated to our healthy smiles. Kids of all ages should be brushing twice daily with age appropriate brushes - what works for your little one won't necessarily work for adult teeth. If you're not sure what works best to keep your teeth in working order, ask at your next appointment, or give us a call for our recommendation. Here's to happy brushing!
Happy Halloween!!
When we chew, speak, and any other time our teeth make contact, this activates the bone tissue, causing the jawbone to maintain its density and form. Losing teeth means that there is less simulation of the jawbone, and the jaw begins to its structure.
Calcium cannot keep our teeth healthy on its own because phosphorus helps our body process calcium more effectively. Phosphorus commonly is found in meat, seafood, poultry, milk, cheese, and eggs, but it can also be found in plant-based foods, such as soybeans, pumpkin seeds, broccoli, sunflower seeds, lentils, whole grains, and nuts.
While bruxism (teeth grinding) often happens during sleep, it can also happen throughout the day, especially when you are stressed.
If you have sensitive teeth, teeth whitening may still be an option. A professional consultation and treatment can take into account the current health of your teeth, help address concerns you may have, and create an optimal outcome for your smile.
When teeth are crooked or crowded, they can be difficult to brush and floss, increasing the risk of tartar buildup, decay, and gum disease. Braces not only affect the appearance of your smile, but they can help with oral hygiene in the future as well.
While the pumpkin flavor in coffee doesn’t have dental health benefits, pumpkin and pumpkin seeds have plenty of vitamins and minerals that help improve the health of your smile, like iron, magnesium, zinc, Vitamin A, and Vitamin C. Are you a pumpkin fan? Let us know your favorite ways to cook with pumpkin in the comments!
Milk isn't the only good source of calcium. Leafy greens, sardines, some beans and lentils, almonds, and tofu can be good sources of calcium.
