No one knows what this coming year holds, so we might as well use this time to deepen into our practice. As we commit to seeing clearly what death has to teach us about life, this will be an opportunity to do the healing we took birth for. Exploring Intentions For Peace in a Time of Division With so many concerns about the state of the world, we are all trying to find meaningful ways to be of service. This Friday, Big Heart City is hosting an evening of special guests to talk about spirituality that’s tied to activismaka engaged Buddhism. In addition to our usual sitting practice and Dharma talk, we are inviting some community voices into the room to talk about the work they do, how it ties into current even...ts, and to share the names of organizations that are important to support. We hope to include many voices in the sangha in this conversation. Special Guests will include: * Antonio Roman Alcala - Human Enthusiast, SF Bay Area native, Musician. He will speak to his passion of food justice and sustainable agriculture. * LaToya Lopez - Science of Mind Practitioner coming out of Eastbay Church of Religious Science. She will speak to staying included and connected in the midst of uncertainty. * Felix Macnee - Bay Area Painter. He will speak to how COVID has impacted his work and speak to art as a way to process difficult feelings. The energy of our care and concern can be expressed in action. We can speak and act, and one of the most important ways we speak in the United States is to vote and encourage others to vote too. You are in the best position to mobilize your network to vote. We’re all familiar with the cold-calls and texts we’ve received from volunteers. But the most persuasive force is you speaking directly to your people. We can all do this.
