Community Services Update: The BBCLT's Thrift Store and Food Pantry have been closed for several weeks due to an increase of Covid-19 cases in our county. The food pantry is now opening in a contact-free fashion. Food boxes will be prepared in a sanitary fashion and dropped off where ever needed. Please contact me to donate or receive. We currently have: dry cereal, powdered and tetra-boxed milk, canned fruits and veggies, canned soups and meats, applesauce, tomato sauce, p...asta, fresh oranges and more. The Thrift store can operate in a similar fashion for emergency situations, yet will not be accepting donations or be open to the public until the numbers start going down. The Big Bend Community Club is also closed during the pandemic. You can donate to the Club at the Pit Stop store. It is important to do whatever we can to slow the spread of the virus so as to not overwhelm our local support systems. No one in our community should go without in these trying times. Together we can learn to adapt our services while we ride our this (hopefully) final wave. I eagerly look forward to when we can return to community gatherings. Thanks! Puck See more

We have been having an amazing weekend with our mentor and teacher and consultant, Penny Livingston. She has been helping us gather community input and refine the plans for the future of the BBCLT... Thanks to all who have been participating!

The BBCLT's Thrift Store will be open most Tuesdays and Saturdays, from noon until three. We currently have a surplus of good quality clothes and need to downsize. All pricing is always sliding scale - pay what you can, take what you need! Funds raised go into improving the project. Puck currently needs help with: sorting clothes, creating signage, helping people shop, sorting books in the library and designing shelves. ... Hope to see you there!

Thank you to everyone who has helped with the community thrift store. Yesterday we had 17 visitors who left with blankets, baby clothes, and so much more! We have gotten a ton of donations in the last couple weeks. If anyone can come down Tuesday (weather permitting!) and help sort, it'd be really helpful. Also we have an exercise bike available! It takes up space and we'd love to see it gone. We have also been rotating products out from storage. We have a ton of board games and puzzles to get you through the snowy days.

BBCLT is working on creating a Community Food Pantry, where we can distribute free healthy food to people and families in need of some nutritional assistance. Here's an interesting version of that idea (from Toronto)...

Hello everyone! We'll be doing more work on the library during BarterTown today. I've got cherry muffins in the oven for your consumption. The Thrift Store will also be available today. It's still under construction, so shopping takes a little bit of work, but our volunteer team has done an amazing job organizing new donations. Remember the Thrift Store is all sliding scale pricing - take what you need, donate what cash you can. All donated cash goes back into the project to... purchase store supplies. The Thrift Store has a *ton* of women's clothes, toys, kitchen stuff and VHS tapes. Folks have been asking for: more kid clothes, especially boy clothes size six and up; men's clothes (especially pants), blankets, and fishing equipment. I really need large pipes and the rope to hang them with to create racks, if anyone can help with that. I tried PVC pipes before, and they bend terribly under too much weight. Thanks everyone in advance!! I hope to see you today at the BBCLT (Duck Farm) from 10 AM until at least 1 PM, likely later since we have so much to do. Love ya Big Bend, Puck See more

Come get gear for back to school during BarterTown. All kid things are free - store policy!! All other pricing sliding scale - pay what you can, but please take things! BarterTown is our community's Farmer's Market. Really soon we will have both the Thrift Store and Library completely ready for the public. We will have a volunteer work party soon to whip up them shelves and get it all ready. ... If anyone hears for #mountainfire evacuees that need household items, hit us up!

Big Bend Community Land Trust 19.07.2020

Our thoughts are with those evacuating from the #mountainfire. If any evacuees need household items, our thrift store is open to them. #shastastrong

Today at BarterTown, we will be threshing flax! The flax crop is part of our Bio-Diesel project. We harvested it yesterday, and will be pressing it for flax oil in a few weeks. We are looking for straw weavers! If you have any idea for what to do with the stalks, we are open to ideas. ... BarterTown - every Saturday - 10 AM to 1 PM.
