Big Bear Masonic Lodge 11.01.2021

Today, we celebrate the Feast of St. John the Evangelist, who is one of the two patron saints of Freemasonry, the other being St. John the Baptist. Craft Masonic lodges are erected to God and dedicated to these "Holy Saints John." Per the Grand Lodge of New Jersey: "There we have two Saints John, very properly described Masonically as parallel figures. Both of unimpeachable character and strong influence on the Western Mind, but one dogmatic and rigid, and the other intellec...tual and esoteric. In both we find the integrity and inflexible fidelity so common to Masonic teaching, but the manner of teaching those virtues varies between the two." "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not," John 1:1-5. "Nowhere else in the Bible since the beginning of Genesis -- familiar to all Freemasons -- is the concept of light so inextricably entwined with the idea of the divine spirit," according to our New Jersey brothers. The Big Bear Masonic Lodge is open today and tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. so that U.S. Census Bureau personnel can help local residents with their 2020 Census questions. The City of Big Bear Lake boasts a historically low self-response rate compared to statewide figures, which leaves the valley with reduced federal dollars and governmental representation compared to what we are entitled to. Please help us reverse this. https://www.census.gov/
