Shout out to the team at BGCSF Beacon at Carver Elementary for exercising their right to vote and teaching our youth to do the same! Today, staff members taught youth about the importance of the voting process and how every voice counts. Then, members cast their vote to decide which community fun activity they will participate in this Thursday. #YouthLeaders #YouthVoice #GreatFutures #BGCSF

Introducing Our 2021 Youth of the Year! Every year, our Clubs and Camp Mendocino select one outstanding teen to represent them and participate in an intense leadership development program that culminates with the selection of our Citywide Youth of the Year. We’re thrilled to introduce this year’s ten incredible youth who have been working together virtually with their coaches and mentors in preparation for our Youth of the Year celebration in February. The power of kindness Read below as Vice President of Development Denise Wang-Kline shares about a meaningful encounter from her time at our Mission Clubhouse polling location today: . . I'm sure many are feeling tremendous anxiety around today's election. As I sat at the Mission Clubhouse today, I was inspired by the people who came in to vote and their beauty in diversitypeople from all walks of life, some speaking other languagescoming together to exercise their right ...to be heard. As I sat feeling more and more anxious about the division of our nation, I witnessed a beautiful moment of community, solidarity, and hope. A young lady walked into the Club and introduced herself as an employee of a start-up in the neighborhood. She and her colleagues were going around to nearby polling sites offering to provide lunch for the poll workers. I was stunned by this act of generosity and kindness. Despite the acrimony of recent months and fervent anxiety surrounding the outcome of today’s election, her thoughtful gesture melted away my unease and gave me reason to believe that there is so much more that binds us as a nation and as a community than that which tears us apart. In my conversation with her, I found out she was a former BGCSF kid! Thank you to the team at Notion today! You fed hungry and anxious souls. I will remember and be grateful for this moment for the rest of the night and for the many days to come. #hope #believeinkindness

The spirit of the holiday season is here in San Francisco! This month, thanks to the generosity of the SF community and several of our longstanding partners, BGCSF has been able to provide MORE THAN 1,000 GIFTS to our Club kids and other youth in the community. In a year that has been tough for everyone and has caused children to miss out on so much, it's uplifting to witness our supporters reach out to ensure our young people receive a gift this season. #BGCSF #HappyHolidays... We want to express our sincere gratitude to the following organizations for helping us bring kindness and joy to our Club families and for their partnership as we continue supporting youth during these challenging times: Calvary Presbyterian Church Deloitte Equity Residential Herman Miller & Clients Hudson Pacific Properties LBA Realty Lyft MLB SF National Charity League, Inc. As we approach the final days of voting, we would like to encourage you to vote #YesonA for #SFRecoveryBond! BGCSF supports Prop A, because we believe the measure will directly benefit our youth, families, and the communities we serve. Proposition A or the San Francisco Health and Recovery Bond'' is a $487.5 million measure. It would allocate funds for parks and recreational facilities, mental health facilities, substance abuse services, supportive housing services, and improvements for public structures and plazas including curb ramps and road repairs.

Looking to give the gift of mental wellness and community this holiday season? BGCSF’s NextGen Leadership Council invites you to a morning of mindful meditation. We could all use a boost of mental wellness during this extended period of shelter-in-place and as we prepare for an unusual holiday season. We encourage you to invite your friends, family, and loved ones to join in this class as a relaxing way to spend time together. You can also sponsor a Club youth to take the class with you! 100% of the proceeds will support BGCSF's Together We Rise | Emerge Strong Campaign.
