With COVID-19 requiring local schools to teach virtually, the Boys & Girls Club of Palm Springs has stepped in. We created a Learning Day Camp an all-day program that provides a safe physical place for youth to learn. The program was an immediate success! We now have a waiting list of families who desperately need this support. Through the Learning Day Camp program, the Boys & Girls Club of Palm Springs provides a safe space for the children of our essential workers inc...luding our teachers and other families in real need to learn while their parents are at work. We created pods each with ten youth aided by the Club’s technology and staff to help them complete their schooling. The youth also engage in fun, creative learning activities so important in their continued development. Without this program, these youth would either be left home alone, or their parents would have to quit their jobs to stay home. It costs $18,000 a month to create and maintain a pod that safely serves ten youth. We provide extra staffing, a nurse, food, and so much more. Your support will make a very real difference in the lives of our young residents and their families. Every dollar raised will go directly to support the children of working parents who need a safe place to learn.
