Tamala served on the Board of Directors at BGCC for 17 years, providing strategic guidance as the organization expanded to serve many thousands more children in the Carson and South Los Angeles communities. Throughout this time, she has mentored Club youth, coordinated donations of sports equipment on behalf of the Los Angeles Galaxy hosted youth soccer clinics with professional athletes and more. As part of her Board role, Tamala 'adopted' Towne Elementary School, volunt...eering countless hours of time at holiday events, school supply drives, and book donation events. Just recently, Tamala was instrumental in coordinating our first ever Holiday Toy Drive-Thru held at Dignity Sports Park where we distributed toys to over 800 families in need in Carson, Compton, and South Los Angeles. On this #marvelousmonday we are recapping 2020: Middle school STEM programs I love coming to the Club because I know staff have fun and exciting programs and I don’t want to miss out. Jeremiah, 8th grade. Reimagining middle school STEM programming in 2020 meant transitioning from group-based projects to individual projects. We are building confidence and enabling the growth of independent scientists as each kid faces challenging STEM projects on their own. Over the summer, ...in-person learners at the clubhouse created pink slime and clay, and virtual learners like Jeremiah built piñatas. Thanks to partners like the S. Week Two - Winter Break Virtual Programs

David Traughber is President of the Board of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson, and served a previous term as Treasurer. Under David's leadership, board membership is increasing in numbers and diverse representation. David is committed to expanding BGCC's footprint to serve more children in surrounding South Bay communities. David is Senior Vice President of Finance at El Segundo-based toymaker Mattel, Inc. where he is responsible for the company's global commercial finance or...ganization.
