FOURTH ANNUAL CHRISTMAS CONCERT Our Christmas Concert program first started in 2014, featuring simple piano accompaniment and Christmas carols by our own patients Ruth Fitzgerald and Marlynn Verdugo. I also wrote and performed my first song I Shall Be Me Again - for the occasion. Since then, the program has become richer I have written more songs, we have formed a musical group for this event, and last year we also had the participation of the Children Choir of Bakersfie...ld led by Ms. Jessica Ardray. Furthermore, I have had the joy of seeing my own children grow, and for the past few years, my daughter Mandy Nguyen has been performing duets with me and helping me with some of the songs I wrote. Throughout out all of this, our wish is simple: to bring faith, hope and love to those fighting and living with cancer. It is now my pleasure to announce our Fourth Annual Christmas Concert for our patients: Date: Friday December 8, 2017 Time: 5 PM to about 8 PM Location: Bakersfield Hematology Oncology, 9800 Brimhall Road. Food and drinks will be served. Due to very limited space, we will accept sign-ups on a first come basis. To sign up for the concert, please follow a few simple instructions as below: - official sign-up will start on Friday November 10, by calling the office at 661-615-6800 - you are a patient at Bakersfield Hematology Oncology - you have a diagnosis of cancer - you can sign up for yourself and one guest. Announcement from Dr. Nguyen: From the general interest expressed by many patients, I have decided to hold our first symposium on new developments in cancer research. It will be done in conjunction with Dr. Giridhar Gorla, radiation oncology currently working at CBCC. The symposium will be held at our office Bakersfield Hematology Oncology, 9800 Brimhall Road... on Saturday July 29, 2017 from 1 pm to 3 pm. The timing will work out well for those who were not able to make it to Relay this year, but more importantly, the symposium will be after the annual ASCO meeting (ASCO = American Society of Clinical Oncology). Every year, tens of thousands of oncologists, scientists, researchers and medical personnels convene to showcase some of the most exciting, groundbreaking and cutting edge data on cancer research. This year, the meeting will be from June 2 - 6 in Chicago. Thus when we hold this symposium in July, we will have had the advantage of having seen some of these new ideas and results. This will be the first time I hold an event at this scale, so it will involve a little bit of trial and error. For now, I suggest the following rules to make the event successful and beneficial: 1. Reservation is needed due to limited seating. If you wish to attend, please contact my office 661-615-6800 and ask for Karen. 2. This event is open to ALL patients, not just those I am treating. I encourage everyone to attend. 3. I also want everyone to submit questions as comments under this post. I will review all of them, and I may pick some of those to answer during the symposium, based on the clinical relevance and the importance of the subject. Dr. Nguyen.

In observance of Memorial Day, we will have live performance by our favorite pianist Marlene Ryan at our office on Thursday May 25, from 1:00 pm to about 3:30 pm. This is followed by the children choir led by Ms. Jessica Ardray for the rest of the afternoon. The performance is primarily for all patients who happen to be getting chemotherapy or seeing me that day. We give our utmost respect and gratitude to those who laid down their lives for our freedom. Dr. Nguyen.
