A positive IgM means an active infection with COVID19. A positive IgG means a later immune response and immunity or resistance to COVID19. Ideally you want a negative IgM (infection resolved), and a positive IgG (you are immune to the virus). #immunology #antibodytest #covid19 #immunity #resistance

This is a great article explaining why and how we all should be prepared in case of a pandemic. There is absolutely no need for panic, HOWEVER we should all try to prevent the spread of the virus as much as possible AND be prepared. Facts: 1.) If infected, 98% of us will likely just have mild cold-like symptoms and be ok. 2.) However, the Covid-19 novel coronavirus seems much more infectious, more deadly, and more virulent than the flu (and compared to the flu many more patie...nts will require hospitalization, as high as 20% of infected individuals versus only about 1% of persons infected with the flu); our healthcare system might not be prepared for this! 3.) Please wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds at a time, especially after touching door knobs, going to the bathroom, before eating or preparing food, after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing or after close contact with others. Try to minimize hand shaking/kissing. 4.) Do not touch your eyes, nose, or your mouth. Always cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue. 5.) Tell your children to keep washing their hands; give them alcohol-based hand sanitizers to carry with them to school. They should also be instructed to keep their hands off their faces. Children who are sick and potentially contagious should not be sent to school/public places. 6.) Control your chronic medical problems, such as diabetes or asthma well. 7.) Keep enough of your prescription medications at home for 1 to 2 months. 8.) Optimize your immune system’s function by avoiding alcohol/smoking, & getting at least eight hours of sleep at night. 9.) It is always recommended for every family to have a 2-week supply of water & food in case of any emergency, including a possible pandemic. 10.) Currently, there are no known specific treatments for COVID-19; therefore taking care of your chronic medical problems and optimizing your immune system is extremely important. Vitamin C & D, as well as zinc might help with that. 11.) Most face masks will not protect you. @ Los Angeles, California See more
