I am so proud of Bet Tzedek - The House of Justice and its partners for suing the Los Angeles County Superior Court today to enjoin the Court from continuing to... permit, and in many instances mandate, in-person appearances in unlawful detainer and traffic matters. Over the course of the last three months, litigants and attorneys have had to risk their lives to attend in-person court proceedings. In one instance, a Bet Tzedek client over the age of 70 was required to attend a court hearing, despite Bet Tzedek’s requests to permit the client to appear remotely. See more

As L.A. reels from over one million COVID-19 infections in the county, attorneys at Bet Tzedek - The House of Justice, Public Counsel, Inner City Law Center, Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, and Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County have filed a lawsuit to stop the Los Angeles Superior Courts from requiring in-person appearances for non-essential civil matters.

Uber and Lyft are like every big guy I’ve ever brought down. Prop. 22 doesn’t ‘help’ their drivers it denies them benefits.
