Better SUP than Sorry

Another one for the 2020 books :). sometimes when you have a paddle incident things can go very wrong. Things can also go right. Yesterday, while paddle my sur...fski upwind against some good sized chop, my boat took one hit that was a little to hard. Heard a loud crack and knew It was time to head the other direction and get as close to shore as possible. Luckily I had my good group of paddling friends with me that elected to escort me back instead of enjoying the epic downwind line we just set up. guessing we were about 2 miles out. I was slowly sinking the whole way. I think i paddled the last 1/4 mile with the boat completely submerged. I think it was creating more laughs than anything else. lucky the water temp was nice an warm. Made it to the beach thanks to my friends and the Mission Beach lifeguards. Another (not)race installment is coming! When: Sat August 1st Where: End of Mission Bay Jetty 9am squirrels, +3’ rabbits, +5’ Coyotes Two courses, ~5 mile short.../~8 mile long. Folks are encouraged to wear some bright jerseys for safety and have a pfd. Can’t wait to share the water from 6 feet apart! See the map below. Angle subject to change based on conditions.
