For the first time in my life, I had to find myself applying for Pandemic Self-Employed unemployment assistance. To add to my misery, the Employment Development Department (EDD) informed me that someone had fraudulently used my name to apply for similar assistance. Trying to fix this is adding a layer of despair to my already-dire situation. It is distressing that approval of my unemployment application is delayed until my identity theft issue is resolved.
