I had the great pleasure of 'virtually' meeting Monisha Coelho, shareholder at Alvarado Smith. She is a wealth of knowledge & so easy to speak with. She handles real estate and corporate litigation/transactions. We had a really great discussion about Evictions and Landlord/Tenant protections/liability. We're at a stage where landlords are seeing tenants not paying and now they have to see if their business will survive... and tenants who cannot pay their rents (commercial and... residential) and have to see whether they'll be homeless or they'll closing shop. We tried to avoid bankruptcy for so long because of assumptions and misconceptions we had about bankruptcy and as a result greatly prolonged the period we were in a downward spiral. Our case wasn't a cookie cutter bankruptcy case; it was complicated, with a lot of moving parts. Sanaz was very thorough, patient, and detail-oriented, and helped us sort through everything. As a result of her hard work, we were able to explain to the trustee a complicated financial picture and get our debts discharged, so we can finally start over with a clean slate. Going through bankruptcy felt terrible, and feeling like there is no coming back from the debt we accumulated was awful. Sanaz helped us get through it and as a result of her hard work we are now able to start fresh and have hope that we can rebuild our credit and be able to finally move forward from the mess we got ourselves into.
