Just something to consider when hiking, check your area for how common it is. It's an incredibly painful plant to come across...

Saw a joke earlier, "Ive got 99 problems and switchbacks are almost all of them" Where switchbacks take away in the actual energy consumed climbing the hill, it adds in felt miles and tedious hiking. Ok Bengetreks family. I want some input, which means I need you to do more than double tap the picture and lurk about. ... We've made it almost a rule that we should have a hike planned at least by friday, so we have a place to be either Saturday or Sunday for hiking. That being said, this Sunday is already booked... however. What would you like to see me hike? More greenie mountain areas like last week's hike? Or maybe perhaps, a lake? A desert hike? Staying overnight on a trail? Let me know what you want to see and I will see if we can bring that to you. This of all the images I took on the hike sticks for me. Some of you who follow know that I've never really stuck around anywhere for a long time. I grew up military and was born overseas, and after I became an adult, I remained a nomad for a few more years until I settled here in Southern California. I did however, spend time in the Pacific Northwest, and consider it a "home" of sorts. The climate suited me, and no matter where I found myself I was not far from long stretch...es of green forests, lakes, mountains, and agreeable weather. This image reminds me of the ferns that grow where I spent time in the PNW. Granted, they grow massively larger than this, but the greens and the ferns stood out to me. Made me feel a little better. I feel I need to emphasize, I love my family, my children, my wife. Those aspects of my life are rewarding and fulfilling. They honestly keep me grounded a lot of the time when i feel like there isn't much I can control. Its the outside stuff that I find difficult to process, just every day life stuff. Self care, cleaning my house, scheduling appointments, following up on calls... trying to be there for my friends, spending time with people... seriously, its just the every day stuff. Seeing pretty much everyone else I know just UP and be able to do that stuff and it just seems out of reach for me. It was a nice small moment to have. I guess a take away here is when everything feels big and unobtainable, like everything is out of reach, find something small to tether to.
